Hummingbird Nectar
Hummingbirds use nectar for energy, not as food. Keeping a full supply of nectar provides these busy little birds with fuel for their fast flight. Nectar can be made as a simple solution of 4:1 water and table sugar.
There are a few key things to remember when using Nectar.
- Hummingbirds will not dine on old Nectar, so keep your Nectar as fresh as possible
- Always keep your Hummingbird Feeder as clean as possible
- Bacteria will grow in an unclean feeder and cause Nectar to sour
- Do not put hot solution or Nectar into the feeder
- After making Nectar, if there is any left over, excess should be stored in the refrigerator
